Abe’s Trail Trek and New Salem

Hey All,

Great news today from DNR!  The 5th Annual Abe’s Trail Trek will take place at New Salem on November 11th with all trails on the east side ready for runners.

We can still offer the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon, but the courses will be revised since the bridge over Rte. 97 is closed.

We will be starting and finishing on the East side of Rte. 97. Food and awards will be at the wagon wheel on the west side of Rte 97, as in previous years.

We are still working out the details, but we’ll have the revised courses marked over the weekend so you can check them out and train.

The trails may have the same names but do not expect the same race. All courses have been re-designed and more challenges thrown in for Kicks.

We will have maps on race day posted around the registration area but the key to a successful event is to Know your Color.

Yellow ribbons for 5k, Orange ribbons for 10k and Pink ribbons for Half Marathon.

Register by 11:59pm on Sunday the 5th to be guaranteed a shirt.

Many thanks to Dr. Mike and Jamie Gensler from Petersburg Spine & Sport for helping us lay out the new courses.

Also many thanks to West of Wise Winery for their support and WINE to be awarded to the 10k and Half Marathon Overall winners.

Finally, thanks to Tracy, the Friday night packet pickup will be at Springfield Running Center from 3:30 to 6:30.  Stop by for your packet and pick up any last minute running items for race day.

We are 28% higher for registered racers compared to last year so come be part of the record turnout.

See you soon!
