Tri Harder

Tri Harder Promotions was created to promote multi-sport events in central Illinois.   As the logo states “Many tri – We Tri Harder”.  These are not empty words; THP is operated by triathletes for triathletes.  Before you’ve entered the water, these races have been painstakingly planned, coordinated and designed so you don’t just have a race; you have a full triathlon experience.

Steve O’Connor is the USAT Certified Race Director and multiple Ironman competitor and promises many changes for the 2017 events.  He has raced, spoke with and learned from the best including Ironman, Rev3, HITS, the Challenge Family, Craig Alexander, Chrissie Wellington, Terenzo Bozzone, Samantha McGlone, Simon Lessing and many other top pro triathletes.

Mr. O’Connor has raced all across the US and in Canada, Puerto Rico, Ireland and most notable in Austria at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.   He has competed in all distances for over 13 years and understands the needs of the new triathlete and the seasoned veteran.

In addition, he is ranked 36th in the Go Pro Ultimate Mountain Challenge; the world’s largest gathering of outdoor adventure sports.

Mr. O’Connor is also a Road Runners Club of America Certified Race Director, one of only a handful in the nation who possess both USAT and RRCA nationally recognized credentials.

This means Steve has taken the time, energy and money to learn from the leaders in the industries and is not a self-proclaimed race director with no formal training.

We are pleased to announce that Sierra O’Connor studied in Colorado in Spring, 2017 & became a USAT Certified Race Director.  This means all Tri Harder events are managed by two triathletes trained and educated in the latest best practices in triathlon management.

While negotiations are always underway with future sponsors, we will continue to host triathlons, biathlon and running events for many years to come.

We also offer newly designed race logos, shirts fitted for men and women that you can comfortably wear all tri season, immediate race splits for your swim, bike, run and finish, the most unique, often artist made, awards around and post race food and drinks based on not only taste but the latest fueling, hydration and recovery science.

Expect even bigger and better refinements as negotiations are worked out in the next few months for all upcoming races.  We always Tri Harder.

Tri Smarter

Beginning in 2017 Tri Smarter was created to serve as a funding source for a variety of local and national charities, social groups, sports teams, schools and clubs.

The Tri Smarter mission is to educate the public about endurance events, including triathlon, cycling, road running and trail running.  We stay on top of leading edge research to apply and include what is out there from the “Best in Business” at all our events.

With your assistance (by registering and competing in events we’ve held), we have helped to build a fitness center, repair & save a pool, sent youths to numerous camps and clinics, funded adult and youth sports teams, assisted Trails and Greenways to maintain the trails in a state historic site, bought rescue equipment and changed lives through endurance sports.

Throughout the years we have never failed to learn and we strive to tri harder in all we do for you and our events.  This includes taking on causes much more serious and life threatening as we grow.

Over the years we became a fund raising source for Colorectal cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Prostate Cancer and now we are adding Multiple Sclerosis to our fundraising goals.

After an in-depth review with our team and consultants we launched Tri Smarter, a 501 C3 Non Profit Public Charity to make our fundraising goals greater in amounts and scope. With the Non Profit designation any funds you or your company donate to our causes are 100% tax deductible.

While both Tri Harder and Tri Smarter are managed by athletes for athletes, Tri Smarter will provide education and information about the numerous benefits of triathlons for the general public and athletes new to endurance sports.

Tri Smarter also provides advocacy and consulting for the legal community, local governments, schools and medical providers.

Tri Smarter works with many medical groups to educate and inform the public through seminars, web postings and race day information and discussions.

While Tri Harder is known for high quaity events for athletes of all ages and abilities, it is our goal to make Tri Smarter as well known through fund raising and making a difference in disease prevention, mitigation and cures for each of our charities while continuing to change lives through endurance sports.

Tri Smarter is a  501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.

To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record.

The Tri Smarter website is located at www.trismrtr.com

Please send all training and racing questions to trismrtr@gmail.com and we will get them answered to help you become a faster, stronger, safer and healthier endurance athlete.
