Stovepipe and Railsplitter Water Temperature & History

The current water temperature at Lake Petersburg is 83 degrees.

This means per USAT rules, you can wear a wetsuit but not be eligible for awards.   If the temp hits 84 degrees no wetsuits can we wore.

Registration:

If you want a shirt, and they have very cool designs, please register by 11:59pm tonight.

Anyone registering after that date is not guaranteed a shirt.   We will have extras but they go fast every year and they all go out every year.

On line registration will continue until Thursday at midnight so we can make lists for the timing staff.

There will be on site registration at both packet pickups and on race day no shirt is guaranteed.

All Railsplitter Olympic Finishers will receive a collectors medal.  These have the new logo design and are impressive.

All entrants receive a gender specific shirt, incredible on course support, more buoys on the swim course, incredible venue and lunch under the oaks where Lincoln roamed.

And thanks to the New Salem Lincoln League all Overall and Age Group Awards are handmade ceramic glasses, one of a kind, from a local artist.

New this year is the Triathlon Club Challenge.

The lowest scoring club will be awarded a piece of history.

A substantial piece  from the Gudgel Oak estimated to be from 1730.  Meaning this tree was alive before we were a country.

Unfortunately the mighty oak had to be taken down due to lightning, disease and age, but thanks to the Menard County Trails and Greenways, the wood is being made available to anyone with the need and appreciation of what this wood represents.

If you are interested in the wood please contact Jack Knuppel at the MCTG and he can set you up or contact Guy Sternberg at the Starhill Forest Arboretum at 632-3685 ( oh yeah, both Jack and Guy will be near the village on the run course volunteering for your triathlon so say hi and thanks, please).

We know triathlons of all distances from the inside out.

See you on Sunday or in July.   Big Surprises for July.
