Out of the House & Into Abe’sTrail Trek

Race organizers for the upcoming Abe’s Trail Trek would like to invite all Trail Runners/Walkers and soon-to-be Trail Runners/Walkers to the 9th annual event occurring Nov. 14th.

While Abe’s Trail Trek is in it’s 9th year, it’s only the 2nd year at Jim Edgar Panther Creek SFWA, which is an amazing, primitive nature area in Cass County, Illinois.

That day, runners/walkers can choose a 5k, Quarter Marathon or Half Marathon distance to tackle on the trails around Drake Lake to Geiss Pond and with all the nature in between.

Trails are primarily double track with turns, ups, downs, creek crossings, nature and wildlife along the way. There is a challenge for every runner and walker.

All runners/walkers get a Long Sleeve Custom Race Shirt, Disposable Bib/Timing Chip, On Course Support, Overall and Age Group Awards to Top 3 Males and Females, Finisher Medal, Post Race Lunch-to-Go from Subway and Covid 19 Precautions to Keep All Runners, Volunteers and Staff Safe.

Thanks to West of Wise Winery, the Top 3 male and female runners in the Quarter Marathon & Half Marathon get bottles of Wine.

Sloan Implement is once again supporting the event and providing a John Deere Gator for Race Preparation and Runner Safety; a true race day workhorse that is much appreciated by race organizers.

Chapman Stone is providing one of a kind Stone Awards, made by nature, perfected by stone artists for the Half Marathon Overall male and female Winners.

Tri Smarter is following a Return to Safe Racing Plan developed by the CDC, WHO, USAT, USOC, WTC and with Approval from IDNR and IDPH and a review by City of Springfield Mayoral Staff.

The plan was implemented in July at the Stoneman, Abe’s Oly and Route 66 Triathlons in Springfield where there were no reported cases out of 360 racers & 50 volunteers and all went home safe.

All racers will be screened before the event with temperature checks and questions regarding Covid 19.   Everyone at the venue will be required to wear a face covering unless they are running.

The Ashland Volunteer Fire Department will be on the trails for medical support should it be needed and will be covering the courses making sure all runners/walkers are vertical and safe.
