2019 will be the Second year for the Sangamon Valley Trail Runs.

On Line Registration closes tonight at 11pm.   You can still register on race day but no shirt is guaranteed, but you will receive a race gift no matter what.

Big News for the Oct. 26th Sangamon Valley Trail Runs (SVTR).

Since this is the second year and we have more time to promote the event which is a fund raiser for Lewis Memorial Acres, and the feedback from last year was all good.

We are freezing the entry fees meaning you can register at packet pickup for the lower fee regardless of distance.  Pickup is Saturday from 6am at the venue.

All racers will get a custom race shirt quantities permitting, or race socks, on course support, Finisher Medal, food from Papo’s Cafe and unique awards.

The event takes place at Lewis Memorial Acres and includes a distance for all with a 5k, 10k and Half Marathon to choose from depending on your experience and desires to run trails.  The event is a fund raiser for the site and is on a combination of dirt and paved trails.

So come run, race and help maintain the site while you play in the trails.

Registration is now open here.

Sangamon Valley Trail Runs (SVTR)

All events include 2.1 miles on the LMA trails and then a distance on the Sangamon Valley Trail (SVT) heading towards the Sangamon River.

The SVT is a public gem thanks to the Springfield Park District and the Sangamon County Highway Department.

Half Marathon

The 11 plus mile paved trail is a converted railway so expect a level run with a slight incline with several bridges and views of the Sangamon River and Valley as you head north.

The Half Marathon runners follow the GREEN arrows and signs.  Remember GREEN and you will successfully navigate the course.

The Half Marathon uses the wooded loop then ventures North onto the SVT for 11 miles.

Half Marathon water is at miles .5, 2.2, 3.2, 4.7, 6.2, 7.8, 9.0, 9.9 and 11.7.  In addition to water there will be Hammer HEED, gels, bananas and Hammer Endurolytes at the stops.

With the early morning start and sunrise at 7:18am you are strongly suggested to bring a headlight or other light for the first mile through the woods.   You can leave the light at the second water stop and we will bring them back to the Start so you can get them back when the races are over.

The 5k uses the wooded loop then ventures North onto the SVT for 1 mile.

The 5k course runners follow the YELLOW arrows and signs.  Remember YELLOW and you will successfully navigate the course.

5k water is at .5 and 1.5 miles.  Please take only water and HEED, all other items are for Half Marathoners.

The 10k uses the wooded loop then ventures North onto the SVT for 4.1 miles.

The 10k course runners follow the ORANGE arrows and signs.  Remember ORANGE and you will successfully navigate the course.

10k water is at .5, 2.2, 3.2 and 4.9.  Please take only water and HEED, all other items are for Half Marathoners.

All distances offer on course support and a chance to set a trail PR or the chance to run trails for those road runners that have not got off the roads yet.

Remember, road runners look down the road, trail runners look down at the trail.

No special shoes or equipment is needed for trail runs but a slower pace can be expected due to the challenges of trails.  No worries, as you get more agile and fleet of foot you can mimic your road pace and many runners find trail runs to be easier on the body since the trails give more than concrete or asphalt.

All runners receive a custom, gender specific race shirt, on course support, Finisher Medal, Overall and Age Group Awards, for each distance, an awards ceremony and breakfast after the event.

To be guaranteed a shirt you must register by 11:59pm on Oct. 20th.

On-line registration will close on Oct. 24th at 11:59pm.

There will be registration at Race day packet pickup on Saturday (6am to 7:15am), but you are not guaranteed a shirt.  In person registration is by cash or check only & costs are below and based on date.
